I have been watching detective conan for a while and I'm 24 episodes behind the latest one. For the past 621 episodes, I have been always annoyed by the girl named Ran Mouri AKA the obsessed girl with the crazy eyes -- "which is an indicatior of mental instability".-HIMYM
Check, Ran's Suspicions - Episode 400 (where she tries to input several pin code possibilities into conan's cellphone with the suspicion that he is shinichi practically trespassing into a person's personal life) and Holmes' Revelation - Episode 617 (Where she chases shinichi like crazy and demands him to answer her questions like she owns him, walks out thinking that everything she researched for was useless. Even though he didnt ask for it and its not necessary force yourself to like the things your love interest likes.)
So, the question is, Who I want Kudou Shinichi to end up with?
Well, obviously, anyone except for Ran. She just annoys the hell out of me. I dont think she's in love with Shinichi. The proper term would be infatuated/obsessed with his detective side (she always talks to herself, example,--> If Shinichi were here, he would be able to figure it out----- even though Shinichi as a detective is only one side of him). Anyone who will and might end up to someone who is obsessed would just throw away their lives, in simple terms, its just self destruction, bound to be tied up with demands into which gives the other party the comfort of the idea of being in love, eternally, making the victim miserable for life.
In the future, assuming that Shin x Ran would end up together, I can see Shinichi as a police detective and Ran as (i dont know). So, If ever Shinichi gets assigned to a case which is somehow miles away, I can predict that ran would end up crying 24/7. Making shinichi feel guilty/worried and thus, he quits being a detective and accepts a deskjob. Living a daily boring life of home and office, bottling up his detective instincts for the sake of love. That is just so sad. He's just like a bird in a cage. Trapped by a witch who just could not accept that he is a human being and he has other things to do aside from being her lover.
I have to add that, it doesnt matter how long you have known each other, it also doesnt matter if you have a past relationship. It also doesnt matter who like the person first. Also, a happy ending does not mean Ran and Shinichi got together because that is just a minor part of the story. And its not even connected to the whole plot where Conan tries to find a way into turning back to Shinichi.
Plus, ran reminds me of Bella Swan. The most important thing for her is about how she and Shinichi would get together. I remember where she's being sad (imagines herself preparing a meal for Shinichi but Shinichi is nowhere to be found) and Conan has to remind her on several occasions that you can do it for your father. She does it anyway but the way Gosho portrayed her eyes doesnt convince me of her action.
Some people say I focus too much on Ran's negative characteristics. But I have to say that everyone in the story has negative characteristics and I dont hate them at all! Example, Hattori being a hothead, Sonoko being a flirt, Genta being just plain annoying, Korogo being boastful of something he did not do, annoying, alcoholic, chain smoker and a gambler. Which proves my claim that Ran, despite her angelic positive characteristics, has negative characteristics that out shadows the positive one's. I can say that she's the counterpart of Kazuha when it comes to positive traits. Ran's negative traits however is enough to strip me off my patience make me cringe and yell out "WHAT AN ANNOYING B*TCH" which I did days ago.
Ah I forgot to mention, some of you might say that she's not like Bella. So, to prove my claim, well, she thinks about love all the time and she cries because of love all the time. The things she does mainly comprises of her obeying people when they tell her to call the police, being a nuisance to Conan while he tries to investigate, occasionally try to help her parents make up on several episodes which you can count using your fingers, crying over small things, whining about ghosts, trying to help people with the usual thought of "If Shinichi were here, he would be able to solve this case easily" and last but not the least, the highlight of her character, crying endlessly, worry about her lovelife and just being hopeless romantic in almost all of the episodes.
Therefore I conclude that Gosho made the worst heroine and the worst portrayal of a girl because her character gives me the impression that she could barely survive without the person she is infatuated with. She might even end up being insane because she focuses too much on her love life despite the fact that there are other things normal people do and love is just a small part of it.
Ahh. I made it too long, I have strayed away from the main point. This one should be entitled How I hate Ran Mouri. (and how I want her to be brutally tortured slowly and painfully to the point where she begs to die.)

You disgust me. This is absolute none sense. I've read countless of criticism and fought with numerous Ran haters for many years, but never have I seen such broken logic and made up "facts" to the point in which providing logical argument and evidence would be literary useless. The only conclusion I can reach from such none sense is that Ran haters are too blinded by their own ugliness. How pitiful.

Yes. I have to agree with you. Most Ran haters just focus on her negative traits or made such facts that aren't even true. What Ran hates lack is logic.
And such haters even never watched DETECTIVE CONAN at all. And by crying by ALMOST ALL episodes, it isn't true. Because everyone is free to worry about their loved ones. Anyone in her point of view will also worry sick or cry. Not unless you don't love that is.

I agree with you.it might be late,but I just finished Episode Holmes revelation...and I was so annoyed and irritated with her character,I started googling to find out if there's anyone else in this planet share my thoughts...and I landed on your blog.well said.obessesed,clingy,dreamy and too domesticated almost helpless woman is whom Ran portrays..it's always about pleasing Shinichi ...yikes !!!!
I kinda agree with your opinion, I like to see shiho and shinichi end up together because their personality fits each other and they have been facing a lot of hardship together.

Ran is kind, motherly, expert in karate, optimistic, but considering she is Shinichi's love interest, her negative side is too much annoying. She should do better if she is indeed a love interest of a great detective. In my opinion, she won't gain total trust from Shinichi if she is always like this. Gosho Aoyama stated in Detective Conan Super Digest Book that Conan has total trust in Ai. Ran surely will get hurt if she knows that Shinichi doesn't fully trust her, but totally trust another girl. She really should improve herself in order to gain total trust from him.
Ran probably won't make Shinichi quit being detective, but she will have to wait for him again. Waiting without being able to help him sounds pitiful for me. If only she has useful skill for case just like Shiho, she can stay by his side and able to help him. She won't have to wait again.

Those Ran Mouri fans only focus on her positive side instead of her negative side.
What does Shinichi/Conan see in Ran, for all of you fans out there, why is she the love interest in both the manga and the show where her character traits are nothing but an abomination of this entire plot of the story all she ever does in the story is being useless when comes to solving case she just there to babysitting Conan when comes to any murder case where Conan is always there to figure out who is murdering and helping detective moron to solve the case.She cried too much about anything that's going to happen, she screams a lot when someone is murder, isn't she already use for it right now about someone being murdered. She good at karate yet somehow she gets captured a few times or maybe a lot of times, whichever, it's in the manga or the anime, and finally she just a useless lovesick teenage girl who has no interest in being a detective at all and would rather have a lot of fun with her friend where ever she going somewhere, and probably won't last that long against the Black organizations. If anything that Conan should do right now is ditching her and her father in order for them to be safe from the Black Organizations.I'm just saying is what would happen if Conan wasn't around with the Mouri's probably Kogoro would lose a lot of clients by being a fraud this entire time and probably go back being the same in episode one of having no clients at all being drunk and high at the same time.I'm just that Conan is better off without Ran if he's going to solve the case or saving the world of the Black Organizations. Besides, all she ever wanted to have Shinichi being a regular teenager instead of being a detective, what's with Shinichi to be with someone like her in the entire time, and not doing anything dangerous that can cause his or her life.
I don't hate Ran but I don't like ShinRan, I prefer him with Haibara. *sigh* That will never happen.

Ran is basically a psycho.In the episode which the soccer champs little brother is kidnapped. She kicks in the kidnappers door not even knowing that he's the kidnapper,just to see Kudo.Phycho.This is just one example.
